Stuff I trust

Ente

End-to-end encrypted photo storage that's open source. It's what hosts the gallery on this site.

Use code QUACK for an extra 10 GB when you buy a paid plan. It's my referral code, so we both get 10 GB.

Tuta

Encrypted email and calendar from Germany, with no ads and no tracking.

Signal

End-to-end encrypted messages and calls, run by a non-profit. The only messenger I trust.

Bitwarden

An open-source password manager that works everywhere and is free for everything most people need.

SimpleLogin

A different email alias for every account, so your real address never leaks and spam is easy to cut off.

Notesnook

End-to-end encrypted, open-source notes that sync across all your devices.

Mullvad VPN

No email, no account details, and you can pay in cash. Handy for getting round the UK's growing online censorship.

Mattermost or Matrix

Open-source team chat you can run on your own server, so your work conversations stay yours.
